# What is the readiness score?
Readiness is a daily score out of 100 built from sleep, resting heart rate and HRV, measured against that client's own recent baseline rather than a population average, and shown with a plain-language verdict.
It compares a client to themselves. A resting heart rate of 52 means nothing in isolation; three beats above their own trend means something.
It needs data before it says anything. Heart-rate measures need at least five of the client's own readings before they count, so the first week shows progress toward a first verdict rather than a made-up number.
The wording is evidence-gated. It only encourages a hard day when nothing is pointing the wrong way, and any negative signal caps the verdict below that, because a score that always says push is not information.
For clients on WHOOP, WHOOP's own recovery percentage is used directly rather than recomputed.
Advice is for today only. Looking back at an earlier day shows the score that day had, without telling a client what to do about a day that has already happened.
